Finally, Maxis has removed minimum contract period apply on its broadband package. I guess Maxis had received uncountable complaints from its broadband users. This sounds like a good news to those who want to cancel the subscription but yet to wait the contact period to expired. The bandwidth of Maxis BB is terrible slow, it not as fast as stated on the package that you subscribed. Why I said so, coz I'm Maxis user too. Those who wish to cancel Maxis BB please read through the FAQ before proceed.

What do we mean by "No minimum contract period"?
Typically most Broadband service providers bind their subscribers to a minimum contract period. To make it simple for you, Maxis Wireless Broadband no longer requires this commitment from you.

What is the effective date of this new policy?
We will apply this new policy to all new and existing Maxis Wireless Broadband subscribers from 28th April 2008 onwards.

Will there be a cooling-off period?
We believe in giving you the best assurance when you use our service. As such, we are providing a seven (7) days cooling-off period. This allows you to test whether you like the service and whether the indoor coverage in your specific area is adequate to deliver the speeds you expect. During this 7-day period, you can discontinue our Maxis Wireless Broadband Service without any handling fee. Simply return the modem and telephone set (if applicable) in good working condition in its original packaging to our Maxis Centres (KLANG VALLEY: KLCC, Sunway, Taman Tun Dr Ismail, Cheras, Selayang, Pavilion, Berjaya Times Square PENANG: Northam, Bayan Baru, Prai JOHOR BAHRU: JB Kotaraya, Taman Molek).

Will the RM100 activation fee be refunded if the Maxis Wireless Broadband Service is discontinued?
The RM100 activation will be refunded if the Maxis Wireless Broadband Service is discontinued within the 7 days cooling-off period.

Can I discontinue the Maxis Wireless Broadband Service anytime after the cooling-off period?Yes, you may discontinue the service anytime after the cooling-off period. A handling fee of RM200 will apply upon discontinuation of the service. If you have used the Maxis Wireless Broadband Service for more than twelve (12) months, the handling fee of RM200 will be waived.

How do I discontinue the Maxis Wireless Broadband Service?
Please return your modem and telephone set (if applicable) to any of the Maxis Centres and our consultants will be there to assist you.

Will I get a bill after I discontinue the Maxis Wireless Broadband Service?
Yes. You will receive a final bill that reflects the usages / charges from your last billing date to the date when you discontinue your service.

Will I be charged a penalty for the remaining months of my existing service contract when I discontinue the Maxis Wireless Broadband Service?
No. The minimum 18-month contract period no longer applies. A handling fee of RM200 will apply if you discontinue the Maxis Wireless Broadband Service within twelve (12) months from the date of registration. If you have used the Maxis Wireless Broadband Service for more than twelve (12) months, the handling fee of RM200 will be waived.

What happens if I lose the modem?
A replacement cost of up to RM900 (depending on modem type) will be chargeable should you lose the modem or return the modem in a damaged condition. You will be issued a replacement modem if you decide to continue with the service upon payment of the replacement cost.
